The crash happened on State Route 94, also known as Carlisle Pike, near Hershey Heights at 5:39 p.m., according to PA State Police in Gettysburg.

A southbound vehicle crossed into the center lane, striking a northbound vehicle head-on, police said. Both vehicles then spun out, hitting two additional vehicles before coming to rest against a guardrail.

The driver of the vehicle struck head-on suffered severe injuries and trauma, police said. Three others were also transported to the hospital, but their conditions were not disclosed.

Vehicles one, two, and four were heavily damaged and had to be towed from the scene. Troopers noted that no level of intoxication is suspected for any of the drivers involved.

The roadway was closed for six hours as authorities investigated and cleared the wreckage. The road has since been reopened, police said.

Further details about the vehicles and individuals involved will be released as the investigation continues.
